Shannon Noll is the ultimate underdog in television, despite becoming a national legend to every Australian. But his greatest achievement must be his beautiful wife Rochelle Ogston.
The couple have been married since May 2004, and while Shannon has had been involved in some scandals, Rochelle has stayed by his side.
Shannon and Rochelle expanded their little family a few years after their marriage with four children, Cody, Blake, Sienna and their “miracle baby” Colton.
Following the singer’s ute accident in 2010, the pair were told it would be impossible to have any more children. In an exclusive interview with New Idea, Shannon joked he felt like a grandparent since his previous three children were already teenagers.
“I left for London a few days [after the accident] and half way through rehearsals I was in agony,” he told New Idea in an exclusive interview.
“The first thing the doctor said was, ‘I hope you’re finished having kids’, so we didn’t think there was any chance.”
“This time I have to work smarter not harder, because I don’t want to miss out on seeing my boy grow up as I felt I missed out on my other kids growing up before.”
The couple admitted Colton was conceived after Shannon starred on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and had spent 49 days apart. He confessed to holding back tears when reunited and said, “It was a beautiful moment.”
After his time in the jungle, Shannon decided he wanted to renew his wedding vows. But their dreams of going to Hamilton Island for the intimate ceremony were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and global lockdowns.
“We just wanted to do something for each other, and we’d been talking about renewing our vows,” he said.
“We really got a new lease on life when the little fella came along, and it reminded us to refocus on each other and the family.
“We’d planned the whole thing out in our heads. The two older boys were going to be my groomsmen and Colton the ring bearer. Sienna was going to be the matron of honour. It was going to be a beautiful family affair. “
So Rochelle was shocked when the singer-songwriter dropped to one knee and proposed – once again – in front of hundreds of fans in 2021.
“He really did surprise me, and I was absolutely thrilled,” she said.
She affirmed that their spark continues to thrive as they make time for little romantic moments despite four children.
“You always have to find new ways to make things exciting, and I honestly believe that’s where people go wrong,” she said.
“No matter what’s going on we always have a date night or just make time once a month to check in on each other and talk about any issues we have.”
