Aussie cricketer Shane Watson, 33 and wife Lee Furlong, 28, have announced that they are expecting a second child.
The happy news is no doubt welcome in the world of Australian cricket which has faced a tough year after the tragic death of Shane’s fellow teammate Phil Hughes.
This will be the second child for Lee and Shane who welcomed baby Will in March 2013. He will no doubt love having a new little baby brother or sister to play with!
Lee’s manager confirmed to Sydney Confidential that: “Lee and Shane are very excited to be extending their family”.
Shane and Lee tied the knot back in 2010 in a low-key ceremony on NSW’s Central Coast after first meeting four years earlier.
Their happy news comes not long after fellow team mate Dave Warner welcomed his first child with ironwoman wife Candice Falzon.
Lee, who is a leading Aussie sports journalist, previously opened up on motherhood and how it’s changed her.
Speaking to blog The Grace Tales, Lee said: “My husband and I always talk about how lucky we are. It’s an unconditional love, which I had never felt before. I also have never enjoyed anything in my life as much as being a mum and caring for my son.”
“Motherhood has taught me a new found confidence that I never knew before having my son. Before I had Will I would at times get caught up worrying about the little insignificant things in life, but now it’s a whole different story. Will has definitely helped me to realise that it’s the simple things in life that are the most beautiful.”
With an Aussie cricketer dad and sports presenter mum, it seems the pair could well have a future Aussie sports prodigy (or two) on their hands!
