Warne died from a heart attack during a holiday in Thailand at the age of 52, leaving not only the Australian public and cricket fans in shock, but also devastating his three children: Brooke, Jackson and Summer.

Warne’s eldest, Brooke, took to TikTok to update her followers on how the family spent the festive season, with a three-minute video detailing the grief she has experienced during what should have been a happy time.

“Christmas Eve wasn’t the same, we usually be spending Christmas Eve with dad this year,” she said.

“…and Boxing Day…we’d usually be going to the cricket, well, he’d be trying to get us to go to the cricket.”

Brooke also took a moment during the video to thank those who paid tribute to her father during the Boxing Day Test.

Warne was honoured pre-match at the MCG Boxing Day Test, with a ceremony acknowledging his contributions to cricket.

Fans at the match did a special tribute of their own also, by donning wide brim hat and zinc – ‘warney style’.

“The tributes that everyone did on Boxing Day being the Shane Warne Test, and everyone wearing their floppy hats, he would be so incredibly touched – as are we,” she said.

“But it was also really hard, as you know, it was a constant reminder that he wasn’t here.

“Because now things are starting to become real that he’s not here…”

The three siblings revealed that the game of cricket is heightening their grief, saying that they struggle to watch the sport now that their dad is no longer with us.

‘When I’m listening to cricket it’s… that missing voice I can’t hear anymore,’ Shane’s 23-year-old son Jackson told 7 News.

Youngest daughter, 21-year-old Summer agreed with her brother, adding: ‘Cricket was his sport and it doesn’t feel right without him there.’

Shortly after her father’s death Brooke posted a tribute dedicated to the cricketing great.

Alongside a sweet picture of her arms around Shane as a child, she penned, “Dad, this doesn’t feel real and doesn’t make sense that you are not here with us anymore. It doesn’t feel right, you were taken away too soon, and life is so cruel.”I will forever cherish our final memories together laughing and joking around with each other. We were happy.”

She continued to reflect on their relationship, “We were so similar in so many ways, and I always used to joke that I got your genes and about how much that annoyed me! Well now I couldn’t be happier and prouder that I have your genes.

“I am lucky and will forever be so proud to call you my Dad forever. I love you to infinity and back, and I will miss you forever.”

She explained that the cooking videos inspire her the most, “I think it’s my found passion.”

“For years, I worked in hospitality, delivering pizzas, events management — all over the shop. Never really knew what I wanted to do, and then sort of found my path in the last 18 months. I’m really happy with what I’m doing at the moment.”

“I think since I was little, I was always passionate about food, passionate about how food brings people together.”

She explained that her family’s support for each other is vital to dealing with their grief.
