The couple quietly went their separate ways earlier this month, Hello! magazine reported overnight.
“It is very sad and they tried to make it work but there were just too many issues in the way,” a source told the publication.
“Elizabeth is taking it one day at a time. She will always be extremely fond of Shane.”
The magazine stressed the split had nothing to do with work commitments or problems posed by the long periods of time they are forced to spend apart, hinting Warne’s rumoured recent indiscretions could be to blame.
The couple spent time apart in August after Hurley reportedly found text messages from other women on a secret phone in Warne’s possession. Hurley was also said to be unimpressed that Warne was still in close contact with his ex-wife Simone Callahan.
Warne seemed to confirm this speculation last night, posting a cryptic tweet that read: “The past should be the past and stay there. It destroys the future. Live life for what tomorrow has to offer, not for what happened yesterday.”

Warne is currently in Australia working as a cricket commentator and will spend Christmas here with his three children, while Liz will spend the festive season in the couple’s new Hertfordshire mansion with her son.
