Elizabeth Hurley and Shane Warne have put an end to their uncharacteristic Twitter silence, both giving insight into their recent relationship troubles.
The pair, who announced their engagement in 2011 via the popular social network and whose entire relationship has played out online, were rumoured to have split after becoming unusually quiet on Twitter, not mentioning each other for the past three weeks.
Liz, 48, was recently spotted out in London minus her large sapphire engagement ring.
She was the first to put an end to the Twitter silence between her and the cricket star. On Wednesday night she tweeted: “Apologies to loyal followers for Twitter silence on recent events. Too raw & personal to share right now.”
Shane followed with a tweet just 30 minutes later saying: “Some of the reports re EH & me r absolute rubbish. Yes we’re sorting through some (private) issues. But we’re not throwing the towel in yet.”
UK newspaper The Sun reported on Wednesday that Shane had been spending a lot of time at home in Melbourne with his ex-wife Simone Callahan, which Liz wasn’t too happy about.
“Liz found out he had been over at Simone’s house a lot,” an unnamed source told the paper.
“It is felt now the kids are getting older, they need their dad around. Liz couldn’t ever handle Shane and Simone still being best friends.”
In a final attempt to save his relationship, Shane has now flown to the UK to visit his fiance.
He left Australia on Thursday afternoon with his three children and wasn’t interested in talking about his rocky relationship when walking through Melbourne airport. But he did tell reporters: “We’re going to have a good time – we’re going to be away for ages”.
Liz and Shane became engaged in September 2011 after he ended his marriage to Simone in December 2010.
