DO smile! This selfie of Julia Roberts and Lupita’s brother Peter Nyong’o is a gorgeous example.

And we’d say the most famous selfie ever, the one taken by Ellen Degeneres with stars at the Oscars 2014, proves that a smile is the way to go.

DO be natural. Jennifer Aniston isn’t a fan of selfies, but she keeps it real when they happen.

DO capture the moment. This fun selfie of Rihanna at the World Cup Final is a brilliant – and spontaneous looking – snapshot.

Do have some fun! Andrew, Duke of York, posted this selfie on Twitter, with a big smile at St. James’s Palace.

DON’T post that sexy selfie, unless you’re prepared to live with it. Nearly half of all 18-24 years olds (the “selfie deographic”) admit to taking a sexy selfie and more than a third of them say they regret it. (Lara Bingle and Miranda Kerr).

DON’T try too hard. If you catch yourself trying to look cool or sexy, you’ve failed. Be yourself! Don’t forget how everyone else sees you every day. (Paris Hilton)

DON’T pout! You might think it emphasises your cheek bones (it probably does) but it makes you look like a goose more. (Kim Kardashian)

DON’T always do the same thing, like pulling the same face, or going for the same angle.

Errr, do you think Justin Bieber has a go-to face?

They just keep coming and coming …

DON’T take a selfie of every little thing, at every possible moment. (Miley Cyrus)

That especially goes for mid-way through beauty treatments! (James Franco)
