So it doesnโ€™t come as a huge shock to discover that the brunette beauty has rapidly racked up millions of Instagram admirers.

In fact, the 23-year-old snagged the unofficial title of โ€œmost followedโ€ on Monday, when she clicked over to 69.4 million followers, overtaking her best gal pal, Taylor Swift, who up until then was the previous record-holder with a whopping 69.2 million.

The beautiful besties recently went as each otherโ€™s dates to the 58th Annual Grammy Awards.

The Hands to Myself singer also nabbed the title from reality star Kim Kardashian, who currently shares her controversial selfies to a total of 63.6 million followers.

She announced the beginning of her new reign on the photo sharing app, Snapchat.

โ€œHey guys. Iโ€™m officially the number-one most followed on Instagram. Thank you!โ€ She quipped in the mini-clip.

But the star didnโ€™t always display her glam life so publicly in the spotlight.

In 2013, the then 21-year-old brunette beautyโ€™s career was soaring. But when she suddenly cancelled her Asian and Australian tour commitments to seemingly vanish from the Hollywood radars, the vicious rumours began.

Some were saying that โ€“ like many young stars before her โ€“ she had checked into a rehab clinic for addiction issues, but it was only late last year that the real reason for her disappearance emerged.

The American singer told Billboard magazine that she was diagnosed with auto-immune disease Lupus, which can be life-threatening.

Among its symptoms are extreme fatigue, chest pain, hair loss and inflammation of joints.

โ€œI was diagnosed with lupus, and Iโ€™ve been through chemotherapy. Thatโ€™s what my break was really about. I couldโ€™ve had a stroke,โ€ she said.

Currently the disease has no definitive cure, but can be treated by medication and chemotherapy.

After her well-deserved rest, the Spring Breakers star has made a seamless transition back to life in the spotlight with the help of her best friend Taylor Swift.

โ€œTaylor makes me feel empowered, like I can trust new people,โ€ she said.

โ€œThe way she cares about women is so adamant. Itโ€™s pulling me out of my shell.โ€

โ€œBoth of us have kind of stuck it out and hung in there through all the different changes weโ€™ve gone through,โ€ said Taylor to E News on her friendship with Selena in 2014.
