Tom Cruise may be missing in action from his daughter Suri’s life since his split from Katie Holmes, but spending time with his six-year-old is harder than you might think.
The heads of the strict Church of Scientology have given Tom special treatment by allowing him to even see his daughter.
“They have already bent the rules for Tom,” former president of the Scientology Celebrity Center Nancy Many told RadarOnline.
“If Tom was any other Scientologist, including lesser celebrities, he would not be allowed to continue seeing and maintaining communication with Katie or Suri, because they are no longer in Scientology.”
Tom has been physically absent from Suri’s life of late and, apart from a trip to Disney World in late June, has been spending less and less time with his daughter.
He even missed her first day of school due to filming commitments in London. Nancy says she is surprised Tom is able to see Suri at all.
“When every other person that I have known of leaves Scientology, which Katie did without speaking of it directly, they are instantly shunned,” Nancy said.
“By rejoining a Catholic Church right afterwards, she made a very public statement of rejection.”
The alleged special treatment has upset other Scientology members in a similar situation who are unable to talk to their loved ones due to the strict rules of the religion.
Nancy explains that as soon as someone leaves the religion they are immediately shunned by those involved with it.
This was certainly the case when Tom estranged himself from ex-wife Nicole Kidman and ex-girlfriend Penelope Cruz.
When asked if Scientology was making an exception for its most famous member, Tom’s rep said: “None of this is true”.
