The stars of Channel Seven are in mourning over the loss of one of their own, close friend and colleague, Garry Suitz.
The hair and makeup artist worked with many of the network’s talent including Natalie Barr, Ada Nicodemou, Kylie Gillies and Sam Armytage and now each of them are sharing cherished memories in the wake of the news.
Sunrise host Natalie Barr was the first to speak about Garry yesterday following his short battle with skin cancer.
“It’s the saddest of weeks because our wonderful, fun, irreverent, talented as all hell friend and colleague @garrysiutz has passed away,” she penned.
“He was the life of the makeup room. For years while he created magic at 4am we talked and laughed, about our families and the news and any good goss that was going around.”
Now, both Kylie and Sam have followed suit with heartbreaking messages of their own.
Nat’s Sunrise predecessor, Sam, shared a number of photos with Garry along before writing, “Another angel in heaven this week. Gone too soon, but never to be forgotten.”
“Thinking of my old mate and fabulous makeup artist Garry Siutz (aka Gazza-matazz),” she then added.
The Morning Show’s Kylie also reflected on the loss of “one of my best friends” in an emotional post.
“Oh Garry!” I don’t know how many times I said that to him over the years. Thousands! But this time it’s “Oh Garry..why did you have to leave us so soon?”,” Kylie began.
“Garry Siutz was a shining light. A brilliant hair and makeup artist. A raconteur – he could make a lunch trip to the foodcourt hilarious. There was always ‘a story’ with Garry.
“Personally Garry was ‘my guy’ for more than a decade. On The Morning Show, red carpets, overseas trips, and through the ups and downs of regular life. He held my hand..AND my hair! He was one of my best friends.”
TV presenter Sally Obermeder also penned a heartfelt post to honour Garry’s life, and she wrote about how he was able to cheer her up so well she would end up laughing with tears in her eyes.
“I can’t fathom that you’re gone. Garry. So talented, so loving, so kind and so wickedly funny.
“He could sense if you needed a cheer up or a laugh and in minutes he’d have you in stitches laughing so hard there would be tears, but then he’d panic and scream “don’t cry ! you’ll ruin the mascara,” remembered Sally.
“I can’t do him justice in a paragraph. What an honour it was to know you. We’ll love you always. Forever in our hearts 💔.”
The Morning Show host Larry Emdur commented a sweet testament to echo Sally’s words.
He wrote, “The world needs more Gazza’s @sallyobermeder 💔💔.”
The news of Garry’s untimely passing broke yesterday, a day after he succumbed to his illness.
He is survived by his partner, Leonie, and their two children, Kiya and Oscar.
