With parents as famous as Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, Rumer Willis is used to spending time in the spotlight – but she admits she was lucky to grow up without having pushy “stage parents.”
In a new interview with People, the Dancing with the Stars winner opened up about her very famous parents, and revealed that of them have inspired her career as a singer, without being too overbearing!
“I have been very, very blessed with not having stage parents,” the 28-year-old explained.
Rumer, who is currently touring the US with her Over the Love show, was asked if her father inspired her own tastes.
“Most definitely,” she replied. “When I was growing up it was so much jazz and cool R&B and blues and all of this different stuff.”
She also spoke about her mother, actress Demi Moore.
When asked about the bet piece of advice the Ghost star gave, she replied, “Just to really be yourself; to always remember that when you’re in front of an audience, or anywhere, if you’re in the public eye, you have to represent yourself in a way that is what you would want to present to the world.”
She also revealed that growing up has made her see her parents as real people, “As you get older, I think for everyone, you realize that your parents aren’t just these superhero parents.
“I mean you really realise that shift happens between them being your parents and them just also being people. You can look at them in a different light.”
“Because my mom had me when she was 25 and I’m 28 now and just to even imagine myself three years ago starting to have children and be married and have my career, it’s pretty trippy and I’m so proud and kind of in awe of her.”
On Monday, the star took to Instagram to share a sweet behind-the-scenes snap with her dad Bruce as he joined her on tour in Fairfield, Connecticut.
“It’s the simple moments….. #overthelovetour,” she penned alongside a touching pic of the pair hugging.
