“When you grow up with parents that are known worldwide and having so much attention from media and all of the tabloids magazines, it’s really tough,” said Rumer, now 26.
“When I was a teenager I was super awkward; I don’t think I really felt comfortable in my body or with how I looked, and people were nasty,” she added.
As the daughter of megastars Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, (who recently reunited to watch their daughter perform on the show) Rumer had to go through some of her most awkward formative years under the scrutiny of the spotlight and was constantly being compared to her parents.
“My mom, who is one of the most stunning women I’ve ever met…everyone was comparing me to [her], saying that ‘you look more like your very masculine father than your beautiful Mom.’”
Rumer said that the harsh barbs she received caused her to consider plastic surgery as the answer. “I thought…’If I change my face or get really skinny, that will be it. That will be the answer.’ And it’s not.”
In the audience, Rumer’s famous mum Demi Moore, 52, fought back tears alongside her sister Tallulah and famous family friend Glenn Close who also turned out to show her support. Rumer said that she drew inspiration from her sisters too.

“My sister Tallulah was in rehab and I was inspired because she didn’t try to hide from it. She really owned it. She got in this mindset of saying ‘Here are my flaws and it’s OK. I’m still me and I’m still beautiful and it doesn’t matter.’” Rumer admitted.
“I just realized that I could feel the same way and I need to stop listening to the bullies.”
Rumer and her dance-pro partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy danced a moving waltz to Adele’s “Turning Tables”. Together, the team, affectionately known as team Valenrue for short, have blown critics out of the water with their amazing performances.
Judge Bruno Tonioli called their waltz “beautiful, powerful and unique” while fellow judge Carrie Ann Inaba said, “There’s something so powerful about the way you dance. I love the way you dance.”
It’s not just their moves that have impressed everyone either, Rumer’s amazing body has been getting plenty of attention too as she shows it off in the scanty outfits required of the glitzy ballroom show. Of particular note was the amazing semi-sheer, midriff bearing sequinned number that she wore for their salsa routine the week before which showed off Rumer’s backside to amazing effect!
Rue was clearly so proud of her booty that she even shared a snap to her Instagram of her sister posing alongside her backside!
Rumer has shared backstage snaps with her family including mum Demi Moore, showing their support. Her sisters Scout and Tallulah even posed with “the real star of #DWTS” as Rue put it – her booty!
