In Roxy Jacenko’s highly-anticipated and emotional interview with 60 Minutes last night, the Sweaty Betty PR founder opened up about her battle with breast cancer, husband, Oliver Curtis’ insider trading conviction and what she thinks of her critics.
After the interview aired, the mother-of-two took to Instagram to thank 60 Minutes for the opportunity to share her story and gave a shout out to three charities who gave her ”so much advice and assistance”.
As an expression of her gratitude, Roxy donated all proceeds from her interview to Breast Cancer Network Australia, Ovarian Cancer Australia and The Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Cancer Trials Group.
Roxy told the Daily Telegraph that “without funding these nurses would not be so readily available.”
While Roxy didn’t specify how much the sum was, she emphasised that this was her way of “giving back”.
“Knowing I have helped three charities and a hospital with the full proceeds of the interviews, I can go to bed tonight knowing I have done something that will help others and hopefully bring cures to a health issue (cancer) that touches so many and has seen so many wonderful people lost,” she told the Daily Telegraph.
In a chat with Kyle and Jackie O show this morning Jacenko also revealed her main motivations for doing the heartfelt, and at times fiery, Channel 9 interview.
“Probably there were two reasons I did 60 (Minutes). One was because the whole amount went to charity, it went to three different charities for cancer. And the second was to say ‘F-you’,” Jacenko said.
Good for you Roxy.
