Robert Downey Jr reprised his role as Iron Man to help a little boys dream come true, by presenting him with a bionic arm.
The veteran actor shared with his 24 million Facebook friends a clip of a meeting he had with Alex, a seven-year-old boy who was born with a partially developed right arm.
“Had the absolute privilege of presenting a brand spanking new 3D-printed bionic Iron Man arm to Alex, the most dapper 7-year-old I’ve ever met.” Robert wrote on his Facebook page.
In the clip the 49-year-old embodies his Iron Man alter ego and exceptionally warm with the young boy.
“I’ve another bionics expert on hand so I thought I’d drop by” Robert said to Alex before adding, “nice bow tie, by the way.”
Robert presented Alex with his brand new arm. The two put on their respective arms and compared.
“I think yours it still a little bit more right than mine because at least your light works,” Robert said to Alex.
The young seven-year-old was enamoured by the Hollywood actor, and asked by a member of the production team “do you know who that is? ”, Alex shyly responded “Iron Man”, much to Robert’s delight.
The amazing 3D-printed and functioning bionic arm was built by Albert Manero, the real superhero of the story. He is a college student who builds and donates low-cost, 3D printed bionic limbs to kids around the world.
“Special thanks to Albert Manero, OneNote, and #CollectiveProject for their work making artificial limbs like this more affordable for families with kids who want to show the playground how badass they are,” Robert shared.
