Kim’s younger brother stepped away from the fame surrounding his family after he admitted he was battling depression and weight issues after gaining over 45kgs.
Since stepping out of the spotlight, the 28-year-old is now committed to transforming his life, with a source close to the sock-entrepreneur revealing he is starting with his weight.
“His regimen involves more than just cardio and weights,” the source explained to E! News, but he has also made an effort to work out hard with his personal trainer, Gunnar Peterson. The source also added that Rob has been “working with a chef and doing really well” so far.
It seems like the youngest Kardashian wants to make change, regularly tweeting about exercising with Kim and sharing a throwback snap on Instagram of himself drinking a milkshake in the past, reminiscing that’s how he originally began to put on the weight.
Featured heavily on Keeping up with the Kardashians, it’s certainly been a tumultuous couple of year for Rob who decided to hide away from momentous family milestones like Kim and Kanye’s weddings.
“I think he’s just going through a phase where he’s not comfortable in his own skin,” Kim admitted to Matt Lauer back in April. “He is working really hard to get back to where he really wants to be.”
She went on to explain, “I don’t necessarily think it’s because of the fame.”
Instead, Kim believes it’s the result of “circumstances in his life that he just really hasn’t dealt with.
Whether it’s, you know, the loss of our father, or certain breakups or, you know, he was extremely close to Lamar [Odom] and when, you know, Khloé and him broke up, that was really hard on him. So I think it was a couple things.”
In the past Kim has been adamant to use tough love on Rob, urging for interventions, but both Khloe and Kris have found that to be difficult.
The 59-year-old matriarch recently admitted on her reality show, “I cry myself to sleep literally every night worrying about [Rob]. It’s breaking my heart.”
But now her son is changing his life and she couldn’t be happier.
“Rob is living in L.A. right now and he’s doing well, finding out what makes him tick and struggling with some stuff,” she explained to E! News. “My job is to be there for him and to love him as hard as I can. Everybody goes through stuff.”
Of course big sister, Khloe is also a huge supporter of Rob’s turn-around.
“Right now I’m really proud of him. He’s been working out a little and trying to get his groove back,” she gushed to E! News. “And he acknowledges it! He’s aware that he’s very introverted and of course not the way he used to be. I think being aware is probably the best thing.”
