The 68-year-old’s representative, Michael Catalano, released a statement on Tuesday, April 18, about his client.
“Richard Simmons was hospitalised on Monday at an undisclosed location in California,” he revealed.
“After a few days of battling severe indigestion and discomfort while eating, we agreed it was best for him to seek treatment.”
Adding, “[He’s] already feeling better and is expected to make a full recovery.”
Richard has been out of the public eye since 2013.
The health icon stepped away from the limelight a couple of years ago, but became the topic of hot conversation following the release of a podcast called Missing Richard Simmons.
It had been rumoured that Richard’s housekeeper, Teresa Reveles, was holding her boss captive in his Hollywood Hills mansion. There was also speculation that the 68-year-old was transitioning into a female.
Both of these wild claims have been vehemently denied by Richard’s rep.

In 2016, Richard himself commented on the kidnap allegations.
Calling into the Today show, he assured everyone he was fine.
“No one is holding me in my house as a hostage. You know, I do what I want to do as I’ve always done, so people should sort of just believe what I have to say because, like, I’m Richard Simmons!” He said at the time.
“Right now, I just sort of want to take care of me. I just really don’t want to do anything. I don’t want to be traveling anymore… it’s taken a toll on me.”
