If thereโs one thing weโve come to know and love about The Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel, itโs that she doesnโt hold back.
Chatting to TV WEEK while in Sydney to promote the 10th season of the popular reality franchise, Bethenny, 47, showed her support for the #metoo movement and opened up about her own experiences.
โIโve definitely had men say sleazy things to me throughout my life and I walk away which is why the metoo movement has always been a movement in my life,โ Bethenny says.
โIโve known all of the people who have been the centre of the #metoo movement, the men, Iโve met them all multiple times and none of it is surprising to me.
โTheyโre all exactly what they were when I met them but I didnโt go into their hotel rooms and I donโt ever tolerate disrespect from anyone.โ
Itโs her โwalk-awayโ attitude which Bethenny hopes to instil in her seven-year-old daughter, Bryn.
โ[I] lead by example,โ she says. โIf I feel uncomfortable about something, I step away.โ
โIf my daughter feels uncomfortable in any situation of unsafe she should tell me or walk away from it. And if itโs at school, she should walk away and tell a teacher.โ
In the past, Bethenny has been quite open about her โabusiveโ childhood.
Itโs this experience which drove and motivated the reality star to succeed. Now, not only is she an original cast member on The Real Housewives of New York but she has sprawling business empires.
โI grew up at the racetrack [her father bobby was a horse trainer],โ Bethenny recalls.
โItโs a hustling environment and itโs very street so I definitely think that had something to do who I am today. I have that hustler-gangster mentality it seems.โ
Speaking about the new season of RHONY, Bethenny says fans can expect drama, drama, drama.
โThis is the most suburb season in ten years,โ the mother-of-one says.
โItโs all drama and shifting in dynamic. Itโs just wild and a very entertaining season.โ
Bethenny is in Australia to promote the new season of The Real Housewives of New York City, on hayu and Foxtel.
