Channel Nine presenter Rebecca Judd has slammed a Sunday Style article and accused the author of bullying parents.
On her blog, Rebecca Judd Loves, the weather presenter and mother-of-two called Katherine Chatfield’s article, ‘Pregnant and new mothers who boast on social media: It’s time to stop’, “nasty” and “judgemental” and said it perpetuated the competitive nature of parenting.
Judd wrote: “In a society where we are trying hard to promote women and mothers being supportive of each other and respecting each other’s varied and unique parenting styles (as long as the child is safe, healthy, happy and loved right?), an article like this comes along which just turns the movement on its head.”

In her opinion piece, published on Sunday, Chatfield accused women of “boasting” about the type of labour they had and how they breastfed their newborns.
Of actress Teresa Palmer, Chatfield accused her of delivering a “loaded statement” when the Warm Bodies stars introduced her son to the world via an Instagram post which read: “Introducing Bodhi Rain Palmer born safely, lovingly and naturally last night.”
“Is she really suggesting he would have been born any less lovingly — or safely — if she’d needed intervention to help her labour progress smoothly?” questioned Chatfield.
The writer then took aim at a former Home and Away star Tammin Sursok, who published a picture of her breastfeeding her daughter, Phoenix.
“Of course breastfeeding is nothing to be ashamed of… But I’m guessing she wouldn’t be posting pictures if she had cracked nipples, unbrushed hair and a screaming baby who didn’t feed well,” she wrote.
Judd posted this picture on her Instagram before she gave birth to daughter Billie.
But Judd, who was not named in the article but is known for showing off her slim figure via Instagram, and was even back in a mini skirt just days after giving birth to her daughter Billie Kate in February, and seemed personally offended by the writer’s comments.
“A woman who gives birth naturally and breastfeeds her child should be celebrated not shamed,” wrote Judd. “A woman who keeps fit while pregnant and bounces back to her pre baby body quickly should be celebrated, not shamed”.
After admitting that she suffers from self-inflicted mother’s guilt after her milk supply “dried up” not long after returning to work, Judd said she harboured no resentment to other mothers who talk about how much they “enjoy” breastfeeding instead only thinking “lucky you”.
Judd also offered Chatfield and other mothers who resent the parenting journey of other women some advice.
“Parenting is the hardest thing you’ll ever do and if you are one of those mums who is so negatively affected by what other mums (namely celebrities) are doing, then the answer is simple – ‘UNFOLLOW’,” she wrote.
