Parents of teenagers all relate to that pang of disappointment when their child refuses to hang out with them.
For those rare moments when they can convince their teen to have dinner with them, it can go exceptionally well or disastrously – it’s like a game of Russian roulette.
However, we can’t quite see Rebecca Gibney’s lovely son Zachary, who she shares with husband Richard Bell, kicking up a fuss about spending time with his mother.
Rebecca likes to keep her family life private, but she has recently given fans a look inside their loving bond.
On her Instagram story, she posted a picture of her son sitting across from her while ordering their dinner.
Zachary, 17, is smiling into the distance, and he looks so much like his famous mum.
The Packed To The Rafter’s star wrote a sweet message over the candid shot: “The reason for everything.”
The few other times Rebecca has shared glimpses into her relationship with her teen son include his first formal, and their time together in New Zealand.
Last year, the family was separated by the pandemic because of the performer’s Back To The Rafters work commitments.
Her husband and son had to leave her in Australia while they returned to their home in New Zealand.
At the time, Bec opened up on her Instagram about their decision to separate.
“So my boys have flown in and unfortunately flown out to get home to NZ in time before the borders close,’ Rebecca captioned the post.
“As much as I’m sad to see them go when they only just got here – I’m happy they are going home and will be there before the self-isolation requirements kick in.
“I’m looking forward to joining them soon, and I will of course be self isolating when I do.
“I hope everyone follows the directives as it’s vital we slow down this bugger of a virus for the safety of our elderly and those at risk.
“And please remember we need to keep essentials on the shelves for those that really need it. Love and virtual hugs to all,” she wrote in her emotional announcement.
