With the expectant Duchess at the height of her popularity, no-one admires her more than her husband.
Even the most glamorous of princesses are not immune to feeling fed up when they hit the nine-month mark of pregnancy.
But Prince William can’t believe just how upbeat his wife Kate is as she contends with swollen ankles and the other not-so-delightful discomforts of impending motherhood. In fact, friends tell Woman’s Day that, in the best of British traditions, the Duchess of Cambridge is keeping a stiff upper lip – her daily motto being: “I’m soldiering on!”
While many women have their husbands on hand for foot rubs during their pregnancy, William – away for days at a time at his Royal Air Force base in Wales – has often been forced to do his best to comfort Kate via Skype chats.
Meanwhile, Kate continues to worry that William might miss the birth if she goes into labour while he is off doing his duty piloting a helicopter to save lives in a search-and-rescue mission.
