The royal family celebrated Easter with their traditional church service at St. George’s Chapel on Sunday, April 1, but two people were noticeably missing from the affair — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
So, why did they skip the very important event? Apparently, it was for a very simple reason.
Royal sources told Hello Magazine that the engaged couple — they’ll marry at the same church on Saturday, May 19 — just chose to spend the bank holiday in private this year (so no, they didn’t blow it off last minute). It can be assumed that Meghan and Harry want some time out of the spotlight before their upcoming big day, but it’s unclear where the duo celebrated Easter, although we imagine Meghan made her husband-to-be a yummy meal (maybe even roasted chicken?).
But don’t worry, Queen Elizabeth didn’t attend church by herself. Even though her husband, Prince Philip, also missed the services (it was previously reported that he’s suffering hip problems), the 91-year-old was accompanied by her grandson Prince William and his very pregnant wife, Kate Middleton, as well as granddaughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, and her son Prince Edward and his family. However, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte were also noticeably missing from the affair.
Sunday could have very well been Kate’s last public appearance before she welcomes baby No. 3, as she’s expected to give birth earlier this month. But, according to Town & Country, even though the expectant couple attended the Easter outing, they were very late due to traffic. Despite the fact that she was tardy and ready to pop, Kate still looked fabulous — and we can’t wait to meet her third child very soon!
