Five things you didn’t know about Prince George

As Prince George stars on the cover of The Weekly's May issue, Juliet Rieden reveals five things you didn't know about the boy third-in-line to the throne.

So far, Prince George has been the centre of attention in the Cambridge household, with only pooch Lupo vying for affection.

But not for long.

The birth of Royal Baby number two is very near as the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is now in labour. Kensington Palace has confirmed Kate and Wills are currently at the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London– the same hospital where Prince George was born.

It will be Royal Household surgeon and gynaecologist Guy Thorpe-Beeston, who assisted at Prince George’s birth, who will deliver his sibling.

But before Prince George has to share the spotlight, here’s a few things you didn’t know about the adorable Royal toddler.

He loves painting, George’s mother revealed while talking to artists and students at an engagement in February. The Duchess has a degree in Art History, so the artistic bent runs in the family.

At eight months, George received his first marriage proposal, in Australia, when 10-month-old Grace Farrelly wore a “marry me George” T-shirt and paraded it in the front row in Brisbane.

Prince George received 523 gifts on his Australian visit last year, including a possum skin cloak and a customised surfboard.

In his first year, George proved quite a handful. Prince William said he was “a little bit of a rascal” who wriggles around “quite a lot” and wakes up at 3am with “a lion’s roar.”

Prince George’s Christmas gift from Santa was a smart wooden train set, which he soon may have to share.
