Prince died of an accidental painkiller overdose, a medical examiner has ruled.
The 57-year-old pop legend, who was found dead at his Paisley Park mansion in late April, sadly passed away after administering himself fentanyl, a powerful opioid used to treat pain, the medical examiner’s office in Minnesota said in a statement.

Very little other detail was given however the sheriff’s department in Minnesota’ Carver County is still investigating.
Fentanyl, a synthetic opiate, is more powerful than morphine and is used to treat people with chronic pain.
It is only available by prescription.
Prince was found dead at his Minneapolis-area estate on April 21, days after he had to make an emergency plane landing that was also reportedly due to a painkiller overdose.
