“I’m so excited,” says Carrie, 34, who also has a seven-year-old son, Ollie, in the March edition of The Australian Women’s Weekly.
“It was tough going the first four months. I thought I’d had morning sickness last time and I realise that I had nothing compared to the sickness this time. It was all day, all night, it was brutal.
“It was pretty hard to keep working but every friend I spoke to or aunties: ‘I had that, too’ and I just kept thinking, everyone else can get on with it so I’m sure I can get on with it, too.”
In a wide-ranging interview, Carrie also talks about her husband Greg Lange, who died from brain cancer in 2010, as well as how their son Ollie reacted to the news that she was pregnant with her new partner.
“Greg is a part of my life everyday”, she says. “I look at Ollie and I see Greg. I love that when I look at Ollie I see Greg in him because it means he is always present, he’s always there.”
And Ollie is looking forward to having a little brother or sister. “He’s super excited,” says Carrie of Ollie. “He spends all day long kissing and hugging and touching my stomach. He said to me the other day, ‘What are we going to do with the bumps up there?’ and I said, ‘You’ll have the actual brother or sister to cuddle.’
She also reveals that she met Chris Walker on The Project. “We got together a couple of years ago,” she says.
“It was hard at first working together, I think. Anyone who works with a partner will tell you that’s a fun dynamic, but he’s left now and our conversations at night aren’t so focused on The Project. We can talk about other things in the world.
“Chris works in the media as well so he gets my job and I get his. It’s been good, too, I think, with him not working the same hours as I am. It’s a little bit easier with babysitting and Ollie. It’s harder when you’re both working in the exact same job at the same time.”
