Is Pippa Middleton about to become the next royal reporter? According to a London newspaper, the younger sister of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has been offered the job with US network NBC.
The $600,000 per year gig would see Pippa become the Today show’s royal correspondent, commenting on events attended by her sister and extended in-laws.
A source told the UK’s Mirror that the network has increased interest in the royals now that Kate is pregnant.
“[Pippa’s] appeal is huge, as she is linked to the royal family and because of her popularity following the wedding when pictures of her went worldwide,” an insider said.
“A couple of offers are on the table, but they would like her to make as many as 20 appearances reporting on royal-themed events like the Chelsea Flower Show, the opening of Buckingham Palace and Opera House nights.”
The 29-year-old, whose popularity boomed following the royal wedding, will not report on “intimate royal matters”.
This isn’t the first time Pippa has been chased for a US TV gig. She has received several offers, including work as a special correspondent on shows like Entertainment Tonight, as well as interviews with Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey and Anderson Cooper. So far, she has declined them all.
But with sales of her party planning book not going as well as expected, she might just take up the TV offer this time.
