It was one of the hardest things I've done!

We’ve seen her compete in marathons, bike rides and do crazy things for charity but this is Pippa Middleton’s toughest event yet.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister chose to forego planning any ritzy celebrations for her 32nd birthday and instead competed in a 80 kilometre swim-run race.

Pippa, who turned 32 on September 6, successfully completed the 50-mile Otillo swimming and running endurance event in Stockholm, Sweden.

It took Kate’s sister 13 hours, 4 minutes and 24 seconds to cross the finish line in the early morning hours of September 7 with her race partner Jons Bartholdson – both nabbing 82nd place – while younger brother James Middleton and his teammate, James Matthews crossed the finish line just eight seconds later.

“It was one of the hardest things I’ve done!” Middleton said after finishing the race.

Adding: “The toughest part was the long swim with the cold water and big waves. But the scenery was beautiful and I love the team part of it.”

Pippa braved the freezing conditions of the Baltic Sea and pushed her body to the limit to raise money for the Michael Matthews Foundation, a charity that was founded following the death of James Matthews’ brother, who died while climbing Mount Everest.
