Sibling rivalry is common in any family but when it comes to sisters Penny and Jess McNamee, the talented duo couldn’t be more proud of one another.
Despite living on opposite sides of the world, the pair are each other’s biggest cheerleaders.
While Penny, 38, has carved out a successful career locally on long-running soapie Home And Away, younger sister Jess, 34, who first found fame playing Sammy Rafter on Packed To The Rafters, is currently living and working in LA, starring on shows like Into the Dark on Hulu and a slew of movies including Mortal Kombat, The Neighbor and Black Water: Abyss.
“I’ve been working hard, and after a slow burn, things are now coming to fruition. I’m also in a place where I’m really comfortable within myself, in both my personal and professional life, so it’s really nice – and incredibly exciting,” Jess explained to TV WEEK of her blossoming career in 2018.
Both sisters are happily married with Jess tying the knot to property developer Patrick Caruso in 2019 and Penny has been married to her high school sweetheart Matt Tooker since 2009.
The pair grew up on a property in Dural in the Hills District of Sydney and are part of a large family made up of two more sisters and a brother.
“Growing up with lots of siblings was chaos – always lots of fun and lots of laughs,” Penny has reflected of their childhood.
Penny and Jess are yet to actually star opposite one another but have both starred on Home And Away, albeit at different times.
But never say never to a sisterly collab!
“It would be great, but someone has to write something for us,” Penny has previously said of working alongside her younger sister.
“If we don’t kill each other. If you know of anyone who needs to cast sisters, we’re there,” Jess laughed at the time.
