Bert Newton’s darling wife, Patti Newton has landed herself in hospital.
On Tuesday, the 72-year-old shared a photo from her bed at Victoria’s Frankston Hospital.
The mum-of-two wrote alongside the image, “Had a fall and hit my head. I’m so Lucky after Scans no permanent damage, just a sore and glued head. Thank you to the #frankstonhospital they were just wonderful to us xx”
Showcasing her trademark vibrant personality, Patti is seen lying in bed with a neck brace, giving the camera a hearty peace sign.
While, she’s yet to divulge too much detail on the accident, one Instagram friend, merrilyn1946 told her, “Stop chasing the grand kids Patti, that’ll do it every time haha!!!”
The proud nan was quick to reply, “No it was the new puppy Billy!”
Billy is the Newton family’s newest member… And he’s already made firm friends with Bert and Patti’s daughter, Lauren’s son Monty.
Health wise, it’s been a tough year for the Newton clan.
The showbiz legend Bert is on the mend after being in and out hospital over the course of the year.
“About 18 months ago I had a severe bout of pneumonia, and felt the same symptoms about ten days ago,” the 78-year-old revealed earlier this year.
Before adding with his trademark grin, “I wasn’t close to death, although on a couple of occasions I almost felt it.”
But with Patti by his side, it’s clear both can get through anything!
Last year, the couple celebrated 42 years of marriage.
“Patti Newton met Bert more than 50 years ago. Here at Channel Nine and this week they celebrate their 42nd wedding anniversary!!,” the Today show shared alongside a wedding photo from the couple’s 1974 nuptials.
After close to half a century of love, the duo are the proud parents to son Matthew and Lauren, and grandparents to their daughter’s four kids Lola, Eva, Sam and Monty.
Patti tells us the secret to a happy marriage – “I think we have a great relationship because we’re not always in each other’s pocket!”
The beloved grandma also admitted that her hubby, now 78, is happiest when he is working and she enjoys being at home with her kids and grandchildren.
“He can go off and do a little bit of work here and there, and when he comes back there are three grandchildren at home.”
We wish Patti a speedy recovery!
