Paris Jackson’s Melbourne Cup appearance may have made headlines for all the wrong reasons but it wasn’t all doom and gloom for Michael Jackson’s only daughter.

Between her rumoured “diva” antics, the 19-year-old managed to hit it off with a handsome Aussie model called Tyler Green during her highly-publicised appearance at Flemington Racecourse for the race that stops the nation.

Paris and the Queensland model were pictured cosying up in the Myer marquee before sharing a cigarette and leaving in a car together.

Not content with exiting the race in a normal vehicle, the pair were then taken to a helicopter which whisked them home.

Tyler took to social media to share a clip of their movie star exit, uploading a video from the chopper alongside the caption: “Cya Melbourne Cup.”

The actress, who was rumoured to be paid $100, 000 for her attendance Down Under, split with her boyfriend Michael Snoody back in February.

And while her Melbourne Cup outing was plagued with unfair backlash, it’s nice to see the star will walk away with one happy memory in her connection with Tyler!

From headlines about her – shock horror – unshaven legs, cruel allegations she “looked like a fish out of water” and was shy, outcry over the fact she opted for stylish (and comfortable!) ankle boots instead of impractical heels, to of course claims she rejected a custom-made Alex Perry dress at the last minute, the teenager couldn’t catch a break.

Paris’ rep hit back at a report by The Sydney Morning Herald over the Alex Perry dress kerfuffle, telling The Daily Mail Australia: “This isn’t true. Paris couldn’t have refused to wear a custom-made Alex Perry design to the Melbourne Cup, as no such dress was ever made. Paris did wear a piece from Alex’s collection on the cover of Stellar Magazine.”

In the end she stepped out in a dusty-red frock by Morrison, which is stocked by the race day sponsor Myer, and it couldn’t have been more true to her boho style.

A few important things to remember before the Aussie lynch mob rip shreds off the 19-year-old – Paris is still just a teenager.

She grew up in extraordinary circumstances and had to weather intense speculation questioning the true identity of who her father was. Many reports claim Michael Jackson is not Paris, Blanket or Prince’s biological father but the Jackson family vehemently deny this.

Despite hitting it off with Tyler, the star’s high-profile outing didn’t come without controversy.

The 19-year-old made headlines for her supposed “diva behaviour.”

Paris and her two brothers lost their dad when they were still kids. And a few years later, Paris attempted to take her life at just 15 years old.

She is not a “whacko Jacko” just for getting tipsy and pulling silly faces. In fact, Paris was pretty tame compared to the rest of the drunken Melbourne Cup punters around the country and it was refreshing to see a VIP A-lister act like a normal person having fun.

Besides, isn’t that pretty much the sole purpose of the Melbourne Cup anyway?

It looks like Paris was just embracing the fun and frivolity of the Melbourne Cup!

The only daughter of the late Michael Jackson said it was a dream come true to be in Australia.

But the star didn’t seem too phased by the storm in a teacup when she spoke with Channel Seven commentator Rachael Finch, revealing she was thrilled to finally be in Australia.

“It’s always been a dream of mine [to come to Australia]. My parents [Debbie Rowe and Michael Jackson] got married in Sydney in ’96 so I’ve heard stories about that.”
