These women effortlessly take risks, it’s who they are– that’s why they’re stylish.
For The Weekly’s inaugural 20 Most Stylish Women in Australia List for the magazine’s May issue our judges were faced with some tough decisions but the one thing they all agreed on is that Australian fashion is unique.
“We’re not dedicated followers of fashion. There’s a bit of the larrikin in there, a sense of breaking the rules a little bit,” says judge Judith Cook, who is The Weekly’s doyenne of fashion and who has personally styled Australian women for more than five decades.
Designer and fellow judge, Bianca Spender agrees.
“Australians, like teenages, are quite experimental,” says Bianca. “And what I get excited about is when someone shows me a proposition I’ve never seen before.”
While it took a lot of heated debate, the judges finally ranked The Weekly’s top 20 most stylish. The full list is available in the May issue, out now, but here we’re giving you a sneak peek into the women at the top of the fashion world.
The judging panel this year consisted of Judith Cook, Contributing Style Director of the Australian Women’s Weekly, Bianca Spender, fashion designer, Jan Logan, jewellery designer, Jonathan Ward, Executive Designer of RM.M Williams, Nerida Winter from milliner, Sophie Clark, the general manager of womenswear at David Jones, and Glynis Traill- Nash, Fashion Editor of The Australian.
