Former daytime talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has found a new way to offer inspiration to people, by signing up to teach a high school class in South Africa.
The class, called It’s Life 101, will be taught to school girls at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, the school that Oprah opened in 2007 and recently visited.
Upon returning to the US, Oprah emailed some of her fans about the trip and her future plans.
“They were all stressed for tests, but doing fine,” she wrote. “No major crisis this trip. I love being with them and talking to them about all things important. When I’m there I’m talking from the time I get up till I go to bed, about everything teenage girls are going through. It’s the same all over the world.”
And when it comes to teaching, it seems that Oprah can’t wait.
“Should be fun since I love to teach,” she wrote. “And they’re like sponges. Like 12th graders everywhere, this first class is both anxious and excited about going to college.
“Most will be the first in their family [to go to college]. So it’s a very big deal for them, and they’re feeling the pressure.”
While teaching, Oprah will continue to run her TV channel, OWN.
