There were times in Chloe Lattanzi’s life when many people weren’t sure there would be a happy ending for the daughter of Australian showbiz icon Olivia Newton-John. A veritable wild child who’s lived on the edge – from her battle with anorexia to an encounter with a ferocious brown bear – Chloe, 24, has come through many dark moments in her life.

“Olivia and I were told by a psychic that our firstborn would challenge us,” says her dad, Olivia’s first husband Matt Lattanzi. “That psychic was right on! She has challenged us in many different ways.”

So there was barely a dry eye at the ritzy Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica when Chloe’s engagement to martial arts expert James Driskill, 27, was made official, one year since she laid eyes on him. Tiki torches and fuchsia orchids created an exotic tropical atmosphere for an intimate gathering of family and friends, which Woman’s Day was privileged to attend.

Amid champagne toasts, Olivia, 62, Matt, 51, Olivia’s husband John Easterling, 58, and James and Chloe shared stories that were filled with love and laughter – and Olivia was excited about finally becoming a grandmother.

“He’s wonderful and I’m thrilled and excited for Chloe,” she says. “It’s a wonderful time and I look forward to lots of babies. I wish Chloe the love and happiness that I’ve experienced marrying my gorgeous husband. She has grown because of James’s love for her.”
