An adorable new member has joined the Proudman familyโ€ฆ of sorts.

Actor Richard Davies, best known as loveable wild child brother, Jimmy Proudman, on hit series Offspring, has welcomed a baby boy with his partner Channelle Calderwood.

The new dad announced the exciting arrival, Freddie George Davies, via Instagram with a snap of Channelle cradling the newborn.

โ€œAnd just like that I became a family manโ€ฆโ€ he captioned the post.

Richard announced the news via Instagram.

According to partner Channelle, baby Freddie has already proven to be the ultimate gift, arriving around a week ago โ€“ on dad Richardโ€™s birthday.

โ€œOur little slice of perfection, Freddie George Davies. Joining us the 12.08.2020 & officially hijacking his dadโ€™s birthday forever! @rickrdavies,โ€ she shared alongside a gorgeous snap of the bub.

The news may come as a surprise to some fans as Richard is relatively private about his personal life online.

Aside from the newly posted image with Channelle and baby Freddie, thereโ€™s little mention of his partner online.

How long exactly the couple have been together is unclear.

In a 2013 interview with TV WEEK Richard spoke about parenthood, as his on-screen counterpart Jimmy became a first-time dad.

โ€œDown the track Iโ€™d love to [have kids]. I donโ€™t put too much pressure on a certain outcome, though. It would be cool having kids, but Iโ€™d want to make sure I was ready to have one,โ€ he revealed.

โ€œIโ€™m at the age where people are getting married and little ones are starting to pop up. Itโ€™s great to ask advice from your friends or even just hold their babies to see what itโ€™s like [in preparation for playing a dad].โ€
