An adorable new member has joined the Proudman family… of sorts.
Actor Richard Davies, best known as loveable wild child brother, Jimmy Proudman, on hit series Offspring, has welcomed a baby boy with his partner Channelle Calderwood.
The new dad announced the exciting arrival, Freddie George Davies, via Instagram with a snap of Channelle cradling the newborn.
“And just like that I became a family man…” he captioned the post.
According to partner Channelle, baby Freddie has already proven to be the ultimate gift, arriving around a week ago – on dad Richard’s birthday.
“Our little slice of perfection, Freddie George Davies. Joining us the 12.08.2020 & officially hijacking his dad’s birthday forever! @rickrdavies,” she shared alongside a gorgeous snap of the bub.
The news may come as a surprise to some fans as Richard is relatively private about his personal life online.
Aside from the newly posted image with Channelle and baby Freddie, there’s little mention of his partner online.
In a 2013 interview with TV WEEK Richard spoke about parenthood, as his on-screen counterpart Jimmy became a first-time dad.
“Down the track I’d love to [have kids]. I don’t put too much pressure on a certain outcome, though. It would be cool having kids, but I’d want to make sure I was ready to have one,” he revealed.
“I’m at the age where people are getting married and little ones are starting to pop up. It’s great to ask advice from your friends or even just hold their babies to see what it’s like [in preparation for playing a dad].”
Fans were recently treated to never-before-seen photos from the set of Offspring as cast and crew shared some of their favourite moments in celebration of the show’s 10th anniversary.

In the meantime we’re sending our congratulations to the new parents!
