The 2018 Tony Awards are due to air on the Foxtel Arts channel on Monday June 11 from 10am. The 72nd annual show will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
The Tony Awards honour theatre professionals for distinguished achievement on Broadway, with previous Australian nominees including Hugh Jackman, Tim Minchin and Cate Blanchett.
This year’s show is set to be hosted by singer, songwriter and Tony nominee Sara Bareilles and Tony Award nominated actor, singer and songwriter Josh Groban. It’s the first time hosting the show for both stars.
Nominees will compete for awards in 26 categories for the American Theatre Wing’s 72nd Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards.
Tina Fey’s Mean Girls musical and the SpongeBob SquarePants musical came out on top of the nominations, with 12 nods each. Earning 11 nominations were Angels in America and Carousel, with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and My Fair Lady trailing closely behind with ten.
