Makers of a dress Lawson wore on a television show and another worn later at a screening said that they call it the “Nigella effect” – to wit: when their website melts down as people try to snap up whatever dress Lawson has been snapped wearing.
Diva Catwalk, an English dressmaker, are becoming a favourite for Lawson. Though not without a little whiff of sauciness. The pale blue ‘Opal’ dress (approx AUD $25) Lawson wore on an episode of The Taste, a reality cooking show which airs on the ABC network, was a little more low-cut than Lawson had originally thought.
One last thing: I had no idea quite so much décolletage was on display; mortified. On top of everything else
A spokesperson for Diva Catwalk told the Daily Mail that the reason Lawson shifts dresses is simply because they look so good on her.
“Only Nigella gets the phone ringing off the hook,” the spokesperson said.
The company are also pleased with Lawson’s sartorial patriotism.
“It’s amazing how Nigella promotes British design. We could not be more thrilled. We are only a small company but when Nigella wears our dresses the world notices and we sell out. We are incredibly grateful to her for her support,” the spokesperson said.
Of course they’re entirely right, there really is little that is quite as flattering as a wrap dress for those looking for a little va va voom for their curves.
