In a surprise move, an always-poised and private Nicole Kidman has opened up about her “fantasy life” with Tom Cruise, labelling it unbalanced and unhealthy.
And Cher may have called him one of her “greatest” lovers, but Nicole Kidman’s life with her ex-husband was anything but enjoyable.
The 46-year-old Aussie siren was recently promoting her new film Stoker when a reporter from Victorian newspaper The Border Mail candidly asked the Moulin Rouge! star if she was happy.
“Yes. Happy in the sense that I have my girls and my husband and I have a very, very strong real life to counterbalance my fantasy life now,” the star replied.
“My fantasy life used to outweigh that more and now I’ve kind of balanced it, which is a lot healthier.” Nicole added: “I smile now!”
Nic’s 2001 split from the Mission: Impossible star drew plenty of attention, not only as they were Hollywood’s poster couple, but also because Nicole walked away from the Church of Scientology – and without their two adopted children Isabella, 20, and Connor, 18.
Nicole has since remarried – to Aussie country singer Keith Urban in 2006 – and says the couple try their best to put each other first and live a balanced life with their two daughters Sunday, 5, and Faith, 3.
“It’s not even balance. I say, ‘Is this going to work for our family?’ and Keith and I sort of talk about it and there are times when he’s said no and then I don’t do it,” the actress revealed.
“And I’m absolutely fine with that because I want my marriage and want my family more than I want anything else.”
So how does the resident of Nashville, Tennessee, feel spending most of her time away from Sydney and her rural retreat in Sutton Forest, NSW?
“I love music and beyond that, I love the nature; we can go to the Smoky Mountains and rent a cabin, you know? We have a very quiet life there – which is great.”
Stoker opens in cinemas on August 29.
