The coach faces trouble at home with wife Nicole who’s “furious” over his drug bust.
Silver Logie winner Joel Madden’s had Aussie fans on his side after his drug arrest last week, but one person isn’t so supportive – his wife Nicole Richie. After her well-documented past struggles with drugs, 31-year-old Nicole’s reinvented herself as a fashionista, not to mention doting mother to Harlow, five, and Sparrow, three. But she now fears Joel’s drug shame could damage her image.
“Nicole hates that Joel’s stupidity will reflect poorly on her,” says a source. “She left her party girl days behind years ago and she loathes being associated with scandal.” Nicole is also “furious” with Joel because he assured her his rock star partying ways were behind him.
“It’s not the getting caught and public embarrassment that infuriates Nicole as much as the fact that Joel promised Nicole a long time ago that he had given up his pot habit for good,” our source reveals. “She won’t tolerate any drugs around her kids, not in the house and not people – especially their father! – being high.
“Nicole is thinking back now that Joel could have been stoned when Harlow and Sparrow were in his care, and if something would have happened to them, an accident for instance, she never would have forgiven Joel.”
