Stay at home versus going back to work – It’s the argument mothers everywhere have, either between themselves or silently in their own head.
In her latest interview for Harper’s Bazaar, Nicole Kidman shares that for her staying home left her at risk of “living vicariously” through her daughters, Sunday, 7, and Faith, 5 tells Daily Mail.
‘I don’t want to be the mother who lives vicariously through my daughters, so I’m trying to balance it,’ she told the magazine. ‘There was a period where I didn’t do anything, and my mum said, ‘I really think you need to get back and do something”.’
The Moulin Rouge actress said she was happiest at home with her family, but being a stay-at-home mum and forgoing her creative outlet would not benefit her family.
‘I want to be around them, I’m the happiest when I’m around them,’ she said. ‘It’s that simple. But for me to completely give up doing any of this, what would I do artistically?’
She went to suggest that her creative outlet probably makes her a better mother and “be better for everyone in the family.”
A creative outlet is indeed healthy for everyone, but if only everyone had the time and space to make it happen.
