Two months has passed since Nick Gordon had a $50 million wrongful death civil lawsuit filed against after he was found legally responsible for her passing.
Now a judge has ordered Bobbi Kristina’s bereaved partner to pay $36,250,000 in damages.
This figure includes $15 million for present value of life, $13.8 million for pain and suffering and $1.37 million for assault and battery.
Whitney’s 22-year-old daughter was found unconscious in the bathtub of the Atlanta home, which she shared with Nick.
She was put in a medically induced coma for six months but passed away in July 2015 after her life support was switched off.
Her father, Bobby Brown, claims Nick was physically abusive during their relationship and alleged that he played an instrumental role in her death by “injecting her with a toxic mixture” and placing her face-down in the bathtub.
Nick has vehemently denied these allegations and to this day, he has not been criminally charged with her death.
Speaking of the civil case outcome, Bobby Brown released a bittersweet statement, penning, “I am pleased with the outcome of today’s court proceedings.”
“I do know that Mr Gordon will be unable to slander my daughter’s name in the future or obtain any benefits from the use of Krissy’s name.”
Adding, “Finally, I do need for the District Attorney’s Office to step up and begin the criminal prosecution of Mr. Gordon. The delay in that matter is of great concern to me and my family. We need for District Attorney Howard to act now.”
Bobby’s attorney Christopher Brown issued his own statement: “We have said all along that Nick Gordon was responsible for the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown and the harm of losing a child is immeasurable.”
Bobbi Kristina’s estate’s attorney, R. David Ware, later told E! News: “We intend to pursue, with all vigor, the full collection of the judgement. We hope that in some small way this will allow Krissy’s family to continue their quest for peace.”
