Nick Cannon talks moving on from his marriage to Mariah

While neither Mariah Carey nor Nick Cannon have officially confirmed that they are divorcing, Nick has made new comments about the importance of moving on.

Nick has said he’s just taking it “one day at a time” when he spoke to People magazine at a Samsung event he hosted in LA recently. “Ultimately I would think that is what life is all about, to try to pursue happiness,” the America’s Got Talent host said. “And I try to wake up and take each day with a grain of salt, and say, ‘How can I be happy today? How can I affect someone else’s day, and hopefully make them happy?’ ‘”

“That’s why we all entertain, to put a smile on others’ faces,” the America’s Got Talent host said. “I take that as a lifelong goal, but still, at the same time, take it one day at a time.”

Rapper Nelly, who is Nick’s co-star in the US comedy show Real Husbands of Hollywood (a title that feels a little redundant now) commented on how his friend is doing.

“When Nick is ready to let us in on that, I think he will. I think it’s one of those things, because you are a friend, you have to be a friend first,” Nelly said.

“So you don’t push on issues like that. You joke around it, but you know how far to go with that. Nick will let us know how far to go.

“I think he’s doing great,” Nelly continued. “I don’t know if you’ve seen him, but he’s cut his hair. He’s looking like he’s been back in the gym, got new tattoos.”

Nick certainly has gotten new tattoos! He was seen with an elaborate crucifix tattoo across his back as he partied shirtless at Hollywood nightclub Playhouse recently, while celebrating his 34th birthday. It’s particularly significant as it seems to have covered up the giant Mariah tattoo he used to have on his back in dedication to his wife.

Although he seems to be moving on, Nick’s clearly looking to keep his outlook on life positive,.”I wake up every day feeling blessed to be able to be creative, and that someone is paying me to be creative is the most mind-boggling thing to me in the world… and I just know that all of this other stuff is truly just a blessing,” he said.

“I’m constantly reminded [of that] because I don’t stay far away from the community in which I was raised,” Nick toldPeople. He added: “That’s the thing, I keep the same people around me and it doesn’t change.”

As well as these upbeat remarks, Nick has previously gone on a long Twitter rant addressing the reports the couples split, in which it seems that he had nothing but positive things to say about Mariah, the mother of his two children – twins Monroe and Morrocan, age three.

Nick’s comments come not long after Mariah apparently dissed Nick onstage for cheating – a rumour that neither of them have officially commented on.

Since Nick confirmed in August that he and Mariah are living apart, the America’s Got Talent presenter has been linked to other women including Amber Rose – who recently announced her own split from rapper Wiz Khalifa. However, friends in both Amber and Nick’s camp have denied the rumours.

Nick and Mariah have been together for six years and married in in 2008, just one month after meeting.
