Nick Cannon has confirmed that he and his wife Mariah Carey have been ‘living apart for months’ as their marriage continues to crumble.
“There is trouble in paradise…we have been living in separate houses for a few months,” he told The Insider.
“Right now my main focus is my kids.”
Nick, 33, recently moved out of the marital home he shared with Mariah, 44, and their twins Moroccan and Monroe, age 3, and is now living with his grandparents.
“He hasn’t been staying at their home,” a source told The NY Post earlier this week. “He’s been living out of hotels. They’re fighting a lot.”
A big part of the problems reportedly stems from Nick recently bragging that he once slept with Kim Kardashian – see the video below.
Mariah is apparently livid that Nick even brought it up and has become highly suspicious that Nick is cheating on her with other women.
Mariah has become so suspicious that she has hired help to keep an extra eye on her husband. When Nick hosted a pool party in Las Vegas earlier this year, she sent security along too.
“The security guard wasn’t there to keep the girls away from him,” a source told The NY Post.
“It was to keep him away from the girls.”
Nick denies that infidelity has anything to do with the couple’s troubles.
However, in a sit down interview with Barbera Walters in 2011 when Marriah was asked whether she trusted Nick, she said “sometimes”.
Nick questioned her with “sometimes?” To which Mariah said: “Can I trust you more than sometimes? You tell me.”
Nick responded with an “absolutely”. “Ok, then I trust him,” Mariah retorted.
Insiders on the set of America’s Got Talent, which Nick hosts, tell Us Weekly that he hasn’t been his usual upbeat self lately, and that he never mentions Mariah anymore.
“He never talks about Mariah, and she has never been to set in all the seasons he has hosted,” an insider said.
The couple also listed their Bel Air home on the market earlier this year for a reported US $13 million.
The pair have been together since 2008 and surprised everyone when they first got together, tying the knot just one month after meeting.
