1.Michael Clarke has revealed his wife Kyly Clarke is pregnant with their first child.
Michael announced the happy news on Instagram this morning, posting a photo of himself and Kyly alongside the caption: “@kylyclarke and I are extremely ecstatic to announce that we are expecting our first child. Can’t wait to meet baby Clarke.”
Cricketer Michael, 34, and model and presenter Kyly started dating in 2010 and married three years ago in a secret ceremony in the Blue Mountains.
There has been speculation Kyly was pregnant for the past few weeks, after she was spotted in a series of loose, flowing outfits.
2.Nick Kyrgios has been cleared of tanking, but will have to pay over $9000 in fines for his on court behaviour at Wimbledon.
Kyrgios will be forced to pay $7,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct during his win over Milos Raonic and $2000 for audible obscenity during his fourth-round loss to Richard Gasquet – the game that got the country talking.
After an outpouring of criticisms over his on court misbehaviour, including Dawn Fraser telling him to go back to where his family came from, Kyrgios claims he’s had thoughts about leaving the game.
“For sure you have those doubts and those thoughts,” Kyrgios told Fairfax Media.
“I definitely don’t love the sport. I like it to a degree, but I don’t love it.”
“It’s been tough for me waking up everyday with negative messages.
“People don’t really know what goes on in my life. I’ve read a lot of what’s been said about me.
And as for Dawn, Kyrgios brother said “it’s a matter of forgive, not forget” on the Today Show this morning.
3. While we’re on the subject of athletes acting out, the world’s highest paid athlete Floyd Mayweather has been stripped of the world title he won over Manny Pacquiao only months ago.
The World Boxing Organisation has stripped the boxing champion of his welterweight world title after Mayweather failed to pay the 3 per cent (up to $200,000) of his earnings from the fight to the organisation, which he is required to do after taking part in a world title.
The win earned Mayweather a reported $220 million, so surely he could spare the $200,000.
4. The UK is today commemorating the 10 year anniversary of the 7/7 bombings.
On July 7, 2005, four bomb attacks on subway trains and a London bus injured hundreds and killed 52 people.
Today, the country remembered the victims who lost their lives, with survivors, families of those you passed in the tragic attacks and the emergency services who acted first on the scene uniting at a formal service at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Prince William attended a service in Hyde Park, hugging a 14-year-old survivor after hearing her speech.
Emma Craig addressed the memorial service, saying “It may not have broken London, but it did break some of us.”
A minute’s silence was held throughout the country.
5. And in other news, the State of Origin decider is on tonight.
The third and final game in the series will be held at Lang Park in Brisbane to a sell-out crowd of over 50,000.
Who would have thought that many people cared. Not that anyone thinks it’s rigged.
