Their relationship began in controversy two-and-a-half years ago when Nathan Lyon was photographed passionately kissing real estate agent Emma McCarthy in a car in Perth, leaving his partner of 10 years and mother of his two children, Mel Waring, “devastated”.
The off-spin bowler, 32, moved out of the Sydney home he shared with Mel shortly after, and has been joined at the hip with Emma ever since, taking her on tour with the Australian cricket team, and romancing the beautiful blonde on lavish holidays around the world in his downtime.
And last week it appeared he had taken the relationship to a new level after cricket fans noticed that Emma, 29, had posted images of wedding dresses to her Instagram, including a photo of the train of a white dress in the sunlight, and another of a model walking down a spiral staircase wearing a floral white dress.
“Behind the scenes,” Emma captioned the image.
Mel, 32, insists she has well and truly “moved on” since splitting with Nathan, who she shares two daughters, Harper, six, and Milla, five.
She went public after the split with her “heartache”, admitting on her website that “a part of me died” when their relationship broke down after she found out about the affair when the controversial photos were published.
“I didn’t ask for this, this wasn’t the way my life was supposed to be. He was my forever, he was my whole world. This was like a bomb, it went off from behind,” Mel wrote.
Not long after news of their relationship broke in 2017, Woman’s Day revealed Emma and Nathan’s relationship had divided the cricket WAGs, with many choosing to side with Mel.
“I don’t think it’s surprising that after spending 10 years with Nathan, Mel built some very strong friendships with the other WAGs, who still support and love her,” a source revealed.
“I know they still find it hard to stomach Emma.”
While Nathan and Emma could very well be organising their wedding, Nathan’s former partner Mel is busy moving into her new home in Canberra.
The former WAG bought the two-storey property in April for her and her kids Harper and Milla.
Posting a pic on Instagram, Mel wrote, “Officially ours.”
The sale comes after Nathan and Mel sold their $3.8 million Sydney home in May last year.
