The split of golden couple Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber sent shockwaves through Hollywood in September this year, but Naomi Watts has given an interview reassuring everyone she’s doing okay.
Naomi spoke to The Daily Telegraph to talk about life post-Liev and it sounds like the Aussie starlet is doing just fine after the amicable split:
“I feel I’m in a good place in my life and I want to make sure my kids are healthy, my kids are happy and things are going to go well,” the 48-year-old said. “Those are my hopes for me and for all of us.”
It’s been a rather big transition for Watts, who’d been in a partnership with Schreiber, the father of her two children, for 11 years.
“I feel, whether you’re famous or not, transitions are scary for anybody. I feel like change is always scary, but that’s only because transition for anyone is new and you wonder how things are going to go.”
Naomi and Live confirmed their break up in a joint statement in September. They wrote: “Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple. It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship.
The pair have two children, Alexander “Sasha”, 9, and Samuel Kai, 7.
Naomi also told The Daily Telegraph she’s unsure what the family will do over Christmas.
“I’m still figuring out Christmas plans for this year,” she explains. “I obviously want to get back to Australia, but I’m currently working on a TV show, Gypsy, and I’ve only got a limited amount of time off. When we’re not going to Byron Bay for Christmas, where my mother has a house and where we have a huge Christmas with all my family — my aunts and their kids, Mum and my grandmother — then we’ll stay in New York and have it at Amagansett, at my [Hamptons] beach house.”
Schreiber has yet to comment on their split.
