But before making their mark on national TV, cousins Jacqui and Sharon were already household names in their hometown of Mt Isa in Queensland.
Locals say the mums are already “famous”, leading the local social scene, organising fundraisers and never turning down a good party invite.
“The races, charity events, fancy dress… you name it, Shaz and Jac will be there,” says a local taxi driver.
“You see two giggly mums on TV, but don’t underestimate them. They’re party animals and the life and soul of every event in this town!”
The humble pair have been blown away by their success on My Kitchen Rules, which has them firmly placed as favourites to walk away with the $250,000.
But their massive fan base is little surprise to Mt Isa locals and their families, who always saw the star quality in them.
“You can hear Shaz’s laugh from anywhere, it doesn’t matter where she is – having a drink or doing some shopping, you know she’s there and it’s infectious,” says a friend.
With six kids, two husbands, a cat, dog, goldfish and pet pig between them, Jac, who runs a fashion boutique and Shaz, who works at the local courthouse, are happiest surrounded by family.
