Nia Vardalos will reprise her role as the lovable and hilarious Toula in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, along with John Corbett as Toula’s husband, Ian Miller and the rest of that very large Portokalos family.
Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Universal Pictures will distribute the sequel following the announcement by Nia in May that she had been writing the screenplay for four years.
“The entire My Big Fat Greek Wedding family is invited back and we’ll have a few new guests,” she told Mashable.
The project will be produced by Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman, and executive produced by Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, Steven Shareshian, and Nia.
The 2002 film was a box office hit, and was even nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
