Rock star Morrissey has won this year’s coveted Bad Sex in Fiction award, for a passage that appeared in his novel, List of the Lost.
Reuters reports that Britain’s Literary Review award the prize to Morrissey for a passage that described the woman’s breasts as being ‘barrel-rolled’ across her lover’s ‘howling mouth.’
The Bad Sex award is designed to discourage terrible descriptions of sex in works of literature. Nobody really wants to win it, but some have a better sense of humor about the prize than others.
The full passage in Morrissey’s book reads: “[They] rolled together into one giggling snowball of full-figured copulation, screaming and shouting as they playfully bit and pulled at each other in a dangerous and clamorous rollercoaster coil of sexually violent rotation with Eliza’s breasts barrel-rolled across Ezra’s howling mouth and the pained frenzy of his bulbous salutation extenuating his excitement as it whacked and smacked its way into every muscle of Eliza’s body except for the otherwise central zone.”
He did not attend the ceremony.
