In a grim turn of events, it’s been reported that E’Dena was found injured outside her own home in Washington Heights with multiple stab wounds to her torso, before a 30-year-old man was taken into custody.

According to the NY Post when the police arrived at the scene, they found her ex-boyfriend hovering over her.

In a heartbreaking statement released by the 78-year-old Oscar winner he remembered E’Dena as a passionate and loving soul: “The world will never know her artistry in talent, and how much she had to offer.”

“Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace,” Morgan concluded.

The aspiring actress was the granddaughter of Morgan’s first wife, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw, whom Freeman was married to from 1967-1979. Morgan welcomed E’Dena into his family with open arms and the pair shared a close bond.

So much so, that in 2012 both Morgan and E’Dena were forced to address long-running rumours they were in a secret ten-year relationship and about to get married.

“The recent reports of any pending marriage or romantic relationship of me to anyone are defamatory fabrications from the tabloid media designed to sell papers. What is even more alarming is that these fabrications are now being picked up by the legitimate press as well,” the Million Dollar Baby actor explained.

“These stories about me and my grandfather are not only untrue, they are also hurtful to me and my family,” E’Dena’s statement said.

E’Dena recently moved to New York in April to chase her acting dreams and had most recently landed a small part as a receptionist in Morgan’s latest film 5 Flights Up alongside Diane Keaton.

Our thoughts are with the family at this terrible time.
