Supermodel Miranda Kerr has reunited with her family in Australia for the first time in a year and a half laying rest to speculation about a rift in the relationship.

“I’ve seen my family as soon as I’ve arrived and it’s so good to be back and spend time with them,” she told Channel 7’s Sunrise program this morning.

“My mum was over last night making little ice pops with my son and he just loves spending time with them. And it’s good to finally be back after a year and a half.”

The 31-year-old and her three-year-old son Flynn arrived in Sydney – where she is expected to combine leisure and work as the face of brands including Swarovski and Royal Albert – two days ago.

Her parents, Therese and John were understood to be delighted to welcome their world-famous daughter and only grandchild back to her birthplace.

They told of their heartache at not seeing New York-based Miranda and Flynn in an episode of ABC TV’s Family Confidential program, which led to worldwide reports of a family rift.

It came after Therese stepped down as CEO of Miranda’s organic skincare company Kora to launch her own line of organic personal care products, Divine By Therese Kerr.

Asked about what she thought of the ABC program on Sunrise today, Miranda replied, “well, it is what it is, you can’t really change what’s happened. I don’t think there was any ill intention, put it that way.”

In an interview with Sunday Style magazine, published yesterday, she said she felt sorry for her parents as they had been naive for taking part in the show.

But Therese told The Weekly earlier this year the show had been misinterpreted by the media.

“The intent of the program was never about us as a family making a plea for Miranda to come home or to air any grievances,” she said.

“Our intent in being part of the program was to showcase the values of our family and… share the “normality” of our life at an intimate level such that people can see anything in life is possible if you have the belief and determination to achieve.

“The show wasn’t intended and we believe wasn’t about our darling Randa who we adore and love with all our hearts, it is about nan and pa, my mum, our beautiful family – our roots.”

Miranda’s rumoured love interest, casino mogul James Packer, arrived in Sydney yesterday. But she denied they were in a relationship, insisting she was single and he had been “a friend for many years”.
