Miley Cyrus has unveiled a brand new post-breakup tattoo on Instagram, which features a thinly-veiled swipe at her ex husband Liam Hemsworth.
The 27-year-old, who split with her longtime lover back in August, and is now dating Australian pop singer Cody Simpson, debuted her new tattoo on Instagram in a defiant display.
Miley got the word “freedom” tattooed on her right hand, on the outside of her hand, right near her knuckles.
Perhaps a reference to the sense of freedom she now feels without Liam by her side?
The photo was posted on the official Instagram account of LA-based tattoo parlour Winter Stone.

This isn’t the first post-breakup tattoo Miley has inked on herself, and certainly not the first thinly-veiled swipe at her ex.
In August, just a few weeks after the pair went public with their breakup, Miley debuted a new tattoo on her left bicep that hinted at her split with Liam.
The new tattoo is a lyric from the 1990 Pixies song The Thing and reads: “My head was feeling scared, but my heart was feeling free.”
Poignant, perhaps?
Miley has also used the lyrics in one of her own songs to send a message to the public – and Liam – about her new transformation.
During her VMAs performance in August, she actually subtly altered some of the lyrics to her song Slide Away to reflect her new relationship status.
“Move on, we’re not 17, I’m not who I used to be. You say that everything changed. You’re right, we’re grown now,” the lyrics of the song usually state.
But Miley amended the lyrics during her performance, instead choosing to end with the line: “You’re right, I’m grown now.”
Eep.
