Following months of speculation, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have officially called off their engagement.
The couple confirmed to People magazine that their four-year relationship was over via their representatives, who had no further comment on the split.
The pair, who were engaged in May 2012, were last seen together on August 8 with Liam, 23, said to be “mortified” by the 20-year-old singer’s controversial VMA performance.
The news has been a long time coming with Miley hinting at the pair’s troubles via Twitter over recent months, and even as recently as the latest issue of Harper’s Bazzar which features her on the cover.
“I definitely don’t have time to deal with a wedding right now. But I will at some point,” the singer told the magazine.
The former Disney star, who met Liam on the set of The Last Song back in 2009, recently unfollowed her ex on Twitter after rumours that he is infatuated with Mad Men actress January Jones.
